Privacy Policy
This policy explains what inkWallpaper collects, why, who it is shared with, how long it is kept, and how you can have it deleted.

1. Summary
inkWallpaper (“the app”, “we”, “us”) is an iPhone app that turns text prompts, photos and video clips into live wallpapers. This policy covers the app and this website.
The short version: we collect the minimum needed to run an account and generate the wallpapers you ask for. We do not sell personal data, we do not use your content to train AI models, and we do not collect face data or any other biometric information.
2. Information we collect
Account information. When you sign in with Apple we receive a stable, app-specific user identifier and, if you choose to share it, an email address (which may be Apple's private relay address). You can optionally set a nickname and a profile picture, and optionally link your own email address for account recovery.
Content you create or upload. Prompts you type; photos you choose to upload as the first frame of an image-to-video generation; the profile picture you choose; and the images and videos our AI providers generate for you.
Purchase information. Credit packs are sold through Apple's In-App Purchase. Apple processes the payment; we receive a transaction receipt and the resulting credit balance. We never see your card details.
Technical information. Standard request data needed to operate and secure the service: IP address, device language and region, app version, and error logs. This is used for security, abuse prevention and debugging, and is not used to build advertising profiles.
3. Information we do not collect
- No face data, faceprints, facial geometry, face embeddings or any other biometric identifier — see section 4.
- No advertising identifiers, no cross-app tracking, no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
- No contacts, calendar, health, location or microphone data.
- No access to your photo library as a whole — only the individual items you explicitly select in the system picker.
4. Photos of people and face data
inkWallpaper does not collect, generate, store, process, share or sell face data of any kind.
Specifically, the app and our servers do not perform face detection, face recognition, face matching, face verification, face tracking, facial landmark extraction, expression or age or gender estimation, or any other form of facial analysis. We do not create or store faceprints, face templates, face embeddings, facial geometry or any other biometric identifier, and we never use images to identify, authenticate or single out a natural person. No Apple face API (Vision, ARKit face tracking, TrueDepth) and no third-party face-recognition SDK is used anywhere in the app or in our backend.
The app does let you choose a photo from your own photo library to use as the starting frame of an image-to-video generation, or as your profile picture. Such a photo may of course contain a person's face. When it does, that photo is handled exactly like any other image: it is treated as a picture to be animated, not as biometric information, and no facial features are extracted from it. Its content is never analysed except by an automated safety filter that classifies the image against prohibited categories (for example sexual or violent content) and returns only a risk verdict — that filter performs no facial recognition and produces no identity information.
Photos of people are used only to fulfil the request you made with them, are transmitted only to the processors listed in section 7 for that purpose, and are deleted on the schedule in section 8 — automatically 30 days after upload, or immediately when you delete the item or your account. They are never used to train AI models, never used for advertising, and never sold or disclosed to anyone else.
Because a photo may show someone other than you, the app asks you to confirm, before your first upload, that you have the right to use the photo and permission from anyone shown in it. Please do not upload images of other people without their consent.
Face ID may appear while you use the app, but only as part of Apple's own Sign in with Apple sheet — for example when you confirm your identity before deleting your account. That authentication happens entirely within iOS. Apple never shares your biometric data with us, and inkWallpaper neither receives nor stores it.
5. How we use information
- To create and run your account, and to let you sign back in.
- To generate the images and videos you request, and to show you their progress and results.
- To keep the service safe: automated moderation of uploaded images and of any text you publish, plus rate limits and abuse prevention.
- To operate credits and purchases, including automatically refunding credits for failed generations.
- To publish a wallpaper to the community gallery — but only for the specific item you choose to publish.
- To send transactional email you asked for, such as an email verification code.
- To comply with law and to respond to valid legal requests.
6. Legal bases (EEA and UK)
Where the GDPR applies, we rely on: performance of a contract (running your account and generating what you ask for); legitimate interests (keeping the service secure and preventing abuse, in a way that is proportionate and does not override your rights); consent (uploading a photo, linking an email address, publishing a wallpaper — each of which you can decline or withdraw); and legal obligation (retaining purchase records).
8. How long we keep things
- Uploaded source photos, generated images and generated videos: deleted automatically 30 days after they are created. A scheduled job runs every 15 minutes and removes both the database record and the underlying file.
- A wallpaper you deliberately publish to the community gallery: kept while it is published, so other people can see it. Unpublishing it restores the 30-day clock; deleting it removes it immediately.
- Profile picture: kept until you replace it or delete your account.
- Account record, credit balance and credit history: kept while your account exists.
- Purchase records: retained as required by tax and accounting law, in aggregated or pseudonymised form after account deletion.
- Server logs: short-lived, retained only as long as needed for security and debugging.
9. Security
All traffic is encrypted in transit with TLS. Your files are stored in a private object-storage bucket; access requires an authenticated request tied to your account, or a short-lived signed URL. Access tokens are held in the iOS Keychain on your device. We keep access to production data limited to the people who need it.
No system is perfect. If a breach ever affects your personal data, we will notify affected users and the relevant authorities as required by law.
10. Your choices and rights
Inside the app you can, at any time: delete any individual upload or generated file; unpublish a wallpaper you shared; change or remove your profile picture and nickname; and delete your entire account under Me → Account Management → Delete Account.
Account deletion is immediate and permanent. It erases your profile, your uploads, your generated images and videos, your published wallpapers, your favourites, your credit history and any remaining credits, and it revokes the app's Sign in with Apple authorisation. Remaining credits are forfeited and are not refundable.
Depending on where you live you may also have the right to access, correct, export, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority. Write to privacy@inkwallpaper.app from the address linked to your account and we will respond within the period required by law (30 days in most jurisdictions).
11. Children
inkWallpaper is not directed at children. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country, if higher) to create an account. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below that age; if we learn that we have, we delete it. If you believe a child has created an account, write to privacy@inkwallpaper.app.
12. International transfers
We operate globally. Depending on the provider selected for your generation, your prompt and source image may be processed on servers in the United States, Singapore or mainland China. Where transfers out of the EEA or UK are involved, we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent safeguard.
13. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that materially affects you, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where the change is significant, surface a notice in the app before it takes effect.
